Gladiator is the front-line greatsword class. NC calls it a vanguard that tears through the battlefield, and the client kit backs the sustain side of that: Blood Absorption heals on hit and restores 26% Max HP below half health, and Ruinous Blow hits up to 4 enemies and grants +20% PvE Damage Boost for 20 seconds. Thirteen of its skills need you within 5 m of the target.

Who should pick Gladiator

• You want the class that is closest to a classic big-weapon melee fantasy.
• You would rather be in the middle of a pull than kiting from range.
• You want a forgiving first character. Its client kit heals on hit, so mistakes cost less while you learn.

Who should look elsewhere

• You specifically want to hold enemies with a shield. The official shield tagline belongs to Templar.
• You want to avoid melee range entirely.

In a four-player party

In a four-player expedition a frontline melee class is a natural fit for the lead position. Whether Gladiator is a dedicated tank or a front-line damage dealer is the open question, so do not assume a party can skip a guardian just because a Gladiator is present.
