Aion 2 tier list: the best class for PvE, PvP and solo

Three tier lists for the eight Global classes, built from official armory data, seven published lists and our own call. The method and the disagreements are on the page.

TL;DR

  • PvE damage: Sorcerer. Tank: Templar. Healer: Cleric.
  • PvP: Gladiator and Assassin.
  • Solo: Gladiator.
  • No official ranking exists. The published lists disagree, so tap a class for the reason.

The tier lists

The best class in Aion 2 depends on what you do. Pick a mode below. Tap a class to see why it sits there and how many published lists agree. All eight classes share the same base stat growth, so the gap comes from kits, not numbers.

PvE

Split by role, because a tank and a healer do not compete with damage dealers.

Tank

Tier S

  • Templar Editorial

The only pure tank. Mein-MMO and MetaBot both put it at S for group content. It is slow alone, but dungeons want one. 2 of 4 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Editorial.

    Open Templar

Tier A

  • Gladiator Editorial

Heals on hit and can off-tank. Mein-MMO rates it A as a tank. It covers the role in a pinch, but Templar holds threat better. 2 of 4 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Editorial.

    Open Gladiator

Tier B

  • No entries

Tier C

  • No entries

Healer

Tier S

  • Cleric Editorial

The only pure healer. Mein-MMO and MetaBot both rate it S for group PvE. Its damage is weak, so it is a pick for parties. 2 of 5 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Editorial.

    Open Cleric

Tier A

  • Chanter Editorial

A buffer more than a healer. MetaBot says S for groups, Mein-MMO says A. We take A because the sources split on how much it heals. 2 of 5 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Editorial.

    Open Chanter

Tier B

  • No entries

Tier C

  • No entries

Damage

Tier S

  • Sorcerer Editorial

Three lists say S and none put it below A. High burst and wide area damage. Patch 10-14 fixed several of its skill bugs, so check back. 2 of 5 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Editorial.

    Open Sorcerer

Tier A

  • Assassin Observed

Timesaver and ExitLag say S, MetaBot says B. High ceiling, but it needs good positioning, so we stop at A. 3 of 5 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Observed.

    Open Assassin
  • Ranger Editorial

Safe ranged damage. Destructoid and KeenGamer say S, Timesaver says B. Easy to play, which keeps its floor high. 2 of 5 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Editorial.

    Open Ranger
  • Gladiator Editorial

The widest split in the table: S at Destructoid and KeenGamer, C at Timesaver. Timesaver's launch-week chart puts it last for damage while others rank it near the top. We hold it at A until the data settles. 2 of 5 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Editorial.

    Open Gladiator
  • Spiritmaster Editorial

Summons and fear control give it steady damage. Destructoid says S, KeenGamer and MetaBot say B. Harder to play well. 2 of 5 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Editorial.

    Open Spiritmaster

Tier B

  • Templar Editorial

Not built for damage. Most lists treat it as a tank first. 2 of 5 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Editorial.

    Open Templar
  • Chanter Observed

Hybrid kit with melee, buffs and some healing. Its value is in the party, not the damage meter. 3 of 5 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Observed.

    Open Chanter

Tier C

  • Cleric Editorial

Damage is not its job. Mein-MMO rates it C for damage. Pick it for healing. 1 of 5 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Editorial.

    Open Cleric

PvP

Small-scale and open-world fights. Group sieges favor Cleric, Chanter and Templar more than this list shows.

Tier S

  • Gladiator Observed

Four lists say S. Damage, control, self-heal and enough health to survive. MetaBot is the one list that says A. 3 of 4 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Observed.

    Open Gladiator
  • Assassin Editorial

Burst and stealth win duels. MetaBot, Mein-MMO and ExitLag say S. It is ping sensitive and fragile in mass fights. 2 of 4 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Editorial.

    Open Assassin

Tier A

  • Sorcerer Observed

Strong burst from range. MetaBot says S for duels. Low health is the cost, as Destructoid notes. 3 of 4 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Observed.

    Open Sorcerer
  • Ranger Editorial

Range and mobility. Destructoid and KeenGamer say S, MetaBot and Mein-MMO say A. 2 of 4 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Editorial.

    Open Ranger
  • Templar Observed

Resilient and valued in organized objective fights. It needs damage dealers to finish kills. 3 of 4 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Observed.

    Open Templar

Tier B

  • Spiritmaster Editorial

Split: MetaBot and Mein-MMO say A, Destructoid, KeenGamer and ExitLag say B. It lacks the agility to escape fast classes. 2 of 4 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Editorial.

    Open Spiritmaster
  • Cleric Editorial

Best healer in a group, but mass-battle burst overwhelms it, as Mein-MMO notes. Better in organized sieges than in open fights. 2 of 4 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Editorial.

    Open Cleric
  • Chanter Editorial

Party buffs help organized groups. Alone it adds little. MetaBot and Mein-MMO say B, Destructoid and KeenGamer say A. 2 of 4 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Editorial.

    Open Chanter

Tier C

  • No entries

Solo

Leveling, farming and soloable dungeons. Ease of learning counts, because a first character needs forgiveness.

Tier S

  • Gladiator Editorial

Heals on hit and needs no setup. S at KeenGamer and MetaBot, and #1 at PowerUpGaming. The safest first pick. 2 of 2 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Editorial.

    Open Gladiator

Tier A

  • Ranger Editorial

Ranged farming with low risk. KeenGamer says S, MetaBot says A. It is our pick if you dislike melee. 1 of 2 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Editorial.

    Open Ranger
  • Spiritmaster Editorial

MetaBot calls it the best hands-off solo kit. KeenGamer puts it at B. We split the difference. 0 of 2 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Editorial.

    Open Spiritmaster
  • Sorcerer Editorial

Strong damage from range. Fragile if monsters reach you. 2 of 2 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Editorial.

    Open Sorcerer

Tier B

  • Templar Editorial

Safe but slow when alone. MetaBot and KeenGamer say A. We rate it B for clear speed. 0 of 2 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Editorial.

    Open Templar
  • Chanter Editorial

Its buffs and heals are wasted without a party. Both lists say A, but PowerUpGaming ranks it last. 0 of 2 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Editorial.

    Open Chanter
  • Assassin Editorial

High risk alone and a poor first class. KeenGamer says A, MetaBot says B. 1 of 2 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Editorial.

    Open Assassin
  • Cleric Editorial

It can solo, just slowly. Best when you want party invites. MetaBot says B, KeenGamer says A. 1 of 2 published lists agree with this tier. Confidence: Editorial.

    Open Cleric

Tier C

  • No entries

Labels: Observed means three or more fully read published lists put the class in this tier. Editorial means it is our call, and the reason says where we parted from the lists.

How we rank

Each placement uses three legs. We show all three so you can disagree with us.

Leg 1: official-sample data

Official-sample n=1,600, 2026-10-16

We sampled level 45 characters from the official character pages, then took the top 200 per class by combat power (CP). The table shows the p90 CP of those 200, which only one character in ten tops, and each class's share of the highest-CP characters in the whole sample.

Combat power among the top 200 per class, and share of the top 1,000 CP sample (16 October 2026)
Class CP p90, top 200 CP median, top 200 Share of top 1,000 CP
Chanter99,26072,758
Assassin98,28670,032
Sorcerer97,79470,493
Templar93,52970,588
Cleric91,74972,349
Gladiator91,53370,469
Ranger90,61671,405
Spiritmaster90,00367,602

What this data cannot tell you:

  • Combat power follows gear. A class with easy gear access looks stronger than it is.
  • The sample holds strong level 45 characters only. It says nothing about casual players.
  • Each class is sampled with the same quota, so a class's share shows relative strength, not how many people play it.
  • Popularity is not power. A common class can be common because it is easy.

For these reasons data can move a class by one tier at most, and only when the published lists are split.

Leg 2: what the published lists say

We read 7 public tier lists, checked on 14 October 2026, and normalized each to the S to C scale. The next section shows every placement. Three or more fully read lists in one tier makes a placement Observed. KeenGamer publishes one overall list, so it counts as a vote in every mode. These are opinions, and each source has its own date and method.

Leg 3: our call

Where the lists split, we decide and say why. We weigh clear time and survival in group content, kit tools that work without a party, and how forgiving a class is for a new player. We have no measured clear times, so none of this is data. It is labelled Editorial.

Every list compared

This is the one table of all the disagreements. Rows are classes, columns are sources with their dates, and the last two columns show how far apart the lists are and where we landed. "PowerUpGaming rank" is an order from 1 to 8, not a tier. A dash means the source did not rate the class.

Widest PvE splits: Gladiator (S to C), Templar (S to B), Assassin (S to B), Ranger (S to B), Chanter (S to B), Cleric (S to C), Spiritmaster (S to B).

Sources

Accessed 14 October 2026. We link to each list so you can read the author's reasoning.

  • Destructoid, published 30 September 2026 . PvE and PvP, three tiers (S, A, B). Editorial. S is the best choice, A needs a focused build, B needs time to learn. Also weighs the earlier beta.
  • KeenGamer, published 2 October 2026 . One overall list, not split by mode. Editorial. Overall usefulness, solo progression, PvE, PvP, group demand and survivability. The page title says PvE, PvP and solo, but the tiers are one overall list.
  • PowerUpGaming, published 4 October 2026 . Ordered ranking, no tier letters. Editorial. Damage, survivability, versatility. No scoring system.
  • Timesaver, published 7 October 2026 . PvE damage only. PvP is prose, not tiered. Early Global DPS leaderboards from launch week (some from third-party meters), Korea and Taiwan endgame logs, player reports. The author calls it a launch-week snapshot.
  • MetaBot, published 1 October 2026 , updated 10 October 2026. PvE group, PvP (small scale), solo and beginner. Editorial. Skill kits scored 1 to 5 on crowd control, range, mobility, healing, buffs and cooldowns, then checked against its own armory sample. Not win rates. The solo list also weighs how easy a class is to learn.
  • Mein-MMO, published 13 October 2026 . PvE split by tank, healer and damage, plus a PvP list added the same day. Qualitative assessment of each class's strengths. One DPS chart from Asian endgame is cited. It calls the classes Wizard, Summoner and Cantor. We read these as Sorcerer, Spiritmaster and Chanter. That mapping is ours, not stated on the page.
  • ExitLag, published 9 October 2026 . PvE and PvP. Editorial. ExitLag sells a latency tool. It states its list is not built from DPS logs or win-rate data. Partly verified. The site blocks our fetch (HTTP 403). We only have what search results quote, so only the classes below are filled. ExitLag publishes several lists that disagree with each other. The date is from the search listing.

We add a source when we can read its whole page. ExitLag blocks our fetch, so its column shows only the placements we could confirm, and it is never counted as a vote.

Aion 2 tier list FAQ

What is the best class in Aion 2?

There is no single best class. For PvE damage we rate Sorcerer highest, for PvP Gladiator and Assassin, and for solo play Gladiator. Templar and Cleric are the group picks for tanking and healing.

Is there an official Aion 2 tier list?

No. NC does not publish class rankings or win rates. Every tier list, including ours, is an opinion built on some mix of data and play.

Why do the tier lists disagree?

They use different modes, different dates and different evidence. Some use launch-week damage charts, some score skill kits, some are one overall list. Our comparison table shows each source and date.

Which class is best for solo play?

Gladiator. It heals on hit and needs no setup. Ranger and Spiritmaster are close behind. Sources disagree most on Spiritmaster.

Which class is best for PvP?

Gladiator and Assassin, by our reading. Gladiator is the safer all-round pick. Assassin wins duels but is fragile in mass fights.

Does combat power decide the tier?

No. Combat power is driven by gear, and we only see strong level 45 characters. We use it as one signal, never as the ranking.

How often is this list updated?

After each balance patch and when the armory sample is refreshed. The change log below lists every edit.
