An Aion 2 NCGUARD error shows up as a window with a hex code, often a few seconds after you press play, and then the game closes. NC has not published a list of these codes or an official fix. Everything below is player-reported, so treat each step as something that worked for some players, not a promise.
What is the NCGUARD error in Aion 2?
NCGUARD is the protection layer that starts with the game. When it finds software it dislikes, or cannot start, it shows an error window with a code and closes Aion 2. Players describe this as a launch block, not a ban.
Error 0xE0000027: the most reported code
In one Steam discussion thread several players report this code, and two Reddit threads describe the same crash on launch. The common thread is Cheat Engine. Players who removed it say the game then started.
- Uninstall Cheat Engine, even if you never run it while playing.
- Delete or rename the leftover Cheat Engine folders. Several players say the uninstall alone was not enough.
- Restart Windows and launch the game again.
This does not work for everyone. Some players in the same thread say they never installed Cheat Engine and still got the code, and one of them runs developer tools such as Visual Studio. One Reddit reply says closing a process manager fixed it for them. A Reddit commenter also claims turning off a Windows test-signing setting helped. That is a single unconfirmed claim and we do not recommend changing system settings on it.
Players who never installed Cheat Engine also report 0xE0000027, so no single cause explains every case. Observed 2026-10-19 Source
Other NCGUARD codes players mention
These codes come from third-party guides and a handful of players, one source each. They are not confirmed by NC and not by three independent sources, so we do not give them a confidence label.
- 0xE0000013: the game closes at the NC logo. Some players say unplugging USB mice, keyboards or headsets until the logo passes got them in. Player-reported, single source.
- 0xE0000012: the game closes right after the NC logo. One report links it to a security program, Malwarebytes, and says the game launched once it was removed. Player-reported, single source.
- 0xE0000029: reports link it to remote-control software, background services or leftover drivers. Player-reported, single source.
- 0xFA000002: NCGUARD fails to start. Players say the saved log ends with this code. Player-reported, single source.
General steps before you contact NC Support
These are the steps players keep repeating across guides and threads. They are low risk and each one is reversible.
- Press the Save button in the NCGUARD error window and keep the log file. It names the conflict when there is one.
- Restart Windows and close overlays, tuning tools, remote-control apps and screen recorders.
- Verify the game files in Steam.
- Do a clean boot, with only Microsoft services running, then launch the game.
- Add the game folder to your antivirus exceptions, or test with the antivirus paused.
- Unplug extra USB devices before launch if you see 0xE0000013.
Players advise against deleting the whole game or NCGUARD folder and against broad registry edits. If the error stays, contact NC Support with the exact code, the saved log, your Windows version and your launcher.
Not confirmed yet
These points have no reliable Global source yet. Do not plan around them.
- What each NCGUARD code means. NC has not published a code list.
- Whether any of the single-source fixes work beyond the player who reported them.
- Whether NC will add Cheat Engine or other tools to a published list of blocked software.
- Whether a launch block can lead to an account restriction. Players say the two are different, but NC has not confirmed it.
