A first gear setup at level 45 is easier to plan when you know what the strongest characters already wear. We read 1,600 sampled level 45 characters (the top 200 of each class by combat power) and summarised the grade, fill rate and enchant level of every slot. This guide turns that into a target for a new level 45. It also explains the limits: the sample shows the strong end of the player base, so the numbers below are a ceiling to aim at, not a minimum you must hit.
How far ahead is the sample?
Official-sample 2026-10-18
Before you compare yourself with a table, check how strong the sample is. The class pages count about 399 level 45 characters per class that we could read, then analyse the top 200 of them in depth. Across the eight classes, the median combat power of the whole readable pool is about 54,160, and the median of the analysed top group is about 66,365. The weakest tenth of the pool sits near 38,105.
The top group's middle is 1.2 times the pool's middle. That is a real gap, so a character at the pool's median should not expect the gear below. Combat power is a number shown on the official character page. We do not know its formula, so use it only to compare characters of the same class.
Slot by slot: fill rate, grade and enchant
Official-sample 2026-10-18
Fill rate is the share of sampled characters with an item in the slot. Grade is the most common grade found there. Enchant is the level the item has been raised to. Pair slots (earrings, rings, bracelets, runes, Arcana) are pooled across both positions. Enchant figures are medians of per-class medians, so they describe the typical class rather than one exact quantile.

Official-sample 2026-10-18 Sample: n=1,600 characters (top 200 per class), sampled 2026-10-18.
Every gear slot is at least ninety percent filled, so leaving a slot empty puts you behind the sample. Arcana positions are filled only 10% of the time, which says that even strong characters treat them as a later system. The Arcana guide covers how to start.
Reading the grade names
Official-sample 2026-10-18
The armory uses grade names that do not map cleanly onto a power ladder. Rather than guess, the table shows what each grade looks like in the item data: the range of piece item levels, the most common enchant cap and the most common number of stone slots. Compare it with the grade ladder in the gear guide, which comes from client data.
| Armory grade | Items | Worn pieces | Piece item levels | Usual enchant cap | Usual stone slots |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Legend | 166 | 14,936 | 25 to 45 | 10 | 3 |
| Unique | 189 | 12,529 | 36 to 86 | 15 | 4 |
| Rare | 18 | 511 | 13 to 30 | 5 | 2 |
| Common | 7 | 50 | 14 to 16 | 5 | 1 |
Official-sample 2026-10-18 Arcana and the rune are left out. Stone slots are the manastone sockets listed on the item.
The takeaway is practical: do not choose gear by grade name alone. Check the piece item level, the stone slots and the enchant cap on the item page. A piece with more stone slots and a higher cap gives you more room to grow, even if you pay for it in a harder-to-find item.
The most worn piece in each slot
Official-sample 2026-10-18
The table lists the single most worn item per slot in the sample, with its piece item level, equip level and stone slots. Weapons are class-bound, so the main hand and off hand rows show the most worn weapon across all classes. See the weapon choices guide for the per-class view.
| Slot | Item | Grade | Piece item level | Equip level | Stone slots |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Main hand | Spiritforged Bow | Unique | 45 | 1 | 4 |
| Off hand | Spiritforged Guard | Unique | 45 | 45 | 4 |
| Helmet | Pilgrim Helm | Legend | 41 | 1 | 3 |
| Shoulders | Pilgrim Pauldrons | Legend | 41 | 1 | 3 |
| Chest | Bakarma Breastplate | Unique | 54 | 45 | 4 |
| Legs | Bakarma Greaves | Unique | 54 | 45 | 4 |
| Gloves | Anguish Gloves | Legend | 40 | 37 | 3 |
| Boots | Anguish Boots | Legend | 40 | 37 | 3 |
| Cape | Pilgrim Cloak | Legend | 40 | 1 | 3 |
| Necklace | Pilgrim Necklace | Legend | 43 | 1 | 3 |
| Earrings | Pilgrim Earrings | Legend | 43 | 1 | 3 |
| Rings | Pilgrim Ring | Legend | 43 | 1 | 3 |
| Bracelets | Ascension Bracelet | Unique | 51 | 1 | 4 |
| Belt | Noble Belt | Unique | 65 | 1 | none |
| Amulet | Revelation Amulet | Unique | 65 | 1 | none |
| Runes | Clash Rune | Special | 40 | 10 | none |
Official-sample 2026-10-18 Items worn too rarely to have an indexed page are shown without a link.
Bakarma Breastplate leads the chest slot, Spiritforged Bow leads the weapon slot and Pilgrim Necklace leads the necklace slot. These are popular, not mandatory. A popular piece is mostly a sign that many players can get it.
Weak links and second slots
Official-sample 2026-10-18
The slots with the largest share of low-grade pieces (Common or Rare) are belt at 14%, amulet at 12% and bracelets at 2%. These are the places a new character can still upgrade cheaply, and the places where a strong character may leave an old piece in place.
Pair slots also split. For earrings, rings and bracelets, the first position carries a higher median enchant than the second, so players enchant one piece of the pair first. Earrings: 3 and 2; Rings: 3 and 2.5; Bracelets: 5 and 4.
The amulet and belt vary in choice: 4 amulets and 3 belts appear in the sample, against 31 chest pieces, led by Revelation Amulet and Noble Belt. Fewer items means fewer alternatives if one is hard to find.
A first setup checklist
Editorial 2026-10-19
- Fill every gear slot from the top of the list: main hand, off hand, helmet, shoulders and chest and the rest. A slot that is empty is the easiest upgrade you will ever make.
- Pick the weapon for your class early, since weapons are class-bound. Spiritforged Bow is the most worn main hand across all classes in the sample, but your own class page shows the one you should compare. See Gladiator or any other class page.
- Choose armor and accessories by piece item level and stone slots, using the grade table above. Pilgrim Helm and Anguish Boots are common starting points.
- Put your first enchant stones where the sample puts them: the main hand slot has the highest median at +10. The main hand median is +10, against +3.5 for the typical armor slot. Rules and rates are in the enchanting guide.
- Leave Arcana and the belt and amulet slots (among the lowest medians) until the rest of the set is full. If you need a quick ring, Pilgrim Ring is a common choice.
- Revisit the list after each patch. The sample refreshes daily and the numbers on this page move with it.
Where to go next
For where the gear comes from, read the gear progression route. For the rules of enchanting, read the enchanting guide. For the class choice itself, the class starter overview compares all eight, and the beginner guide covers the first days. Each item named above has a page in the item database, and Ranger and Cleric are examples of class pages that list the most worn gear of their class.
Not confirmed yet
These points have no reliable Global source yet. Do not plan around them.
- The formula behind combat power, so we compare it only within a class.
- How the armory grade names map to the grade names in the client. We describe them by item level range, enchant cap and stone slots instead.
- Whether a character below the top group should copy these enchant levels or spend stones elsewhere.
- Set bonuses for matching armor pieces. No source we use publishes them.
- Per-character combinations of items, because the armory data we keep is aggregate only.

Aion 2 first gear setup at level 45 FAQ
What gear should I wear at level 45?
Fill every gear slot first. Strong characters in our sample fill nearly all of their gear slots, so empty slots put you behind. Then choose by piece item level and stone slots, not by grade name.
Which slot should I enchant first?
The main hand slot has the highest median in the sample, at +10. It is a pattern in the data, not a tested rule.
Do I need Arcana at level 45?
Not at first. Only 10% of Arcana positions are filled in the sample.
Is the sample typical for my level?
No. It covers the top 200 per class by combat power, so it shows a strong end of the range. Treat it as a ceiling.
Are there set bonuses?
We found no set bonus data in the sources we use, so we do not claim any.
Why does the armory call some gear Legend?
That is the label in the official character data. We do not know how it maps to the client's grade names, so we describe grades by item level, stone slots and enchant cap.
How often do these numbers change?
The sample is refreshed daily by our pipeline. This page last read data from n=1,600 characters (top 200 per class), sampled 2026-10-18.
