Aion 2 armor choices cover seven slots: helmet, shoulders, chest, legs, gloves, boots and cape. Unlike weapons, armor is not locked to a class, and pieces share a name stem such as Bakarma, Pilgrim, Liberator. This guide asks which pieces strong level 45 characters wear, which name stems lead, and how often a class wears matching pieces. We use the gear worn by 1,600 sampled characters, the top 200 of each class by combat power.
The most worn armor in each slot
Official-sample 2026-10-18
The table lists the most worn item name in each armor slot, with its share of that slot's wearings, grade, piece item level and the Defense and HP printed on the item page. Defense and HP are base values at enchant 0. Records that share a name and a base stat line (two records of one piece) are counted as one item, so their wearings are combined.
| Slot | Most worn | Share of slot | Grade | Piece item level | Defense | HP | Items seen |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Helmet | Pilgrim Helm | 28% | Legend | 41 | 225 | 103 | 26 |
| Shoulders | Pilgrim Pauldrons | 28% | Legend | 41 | 225 | 103 | 26 |
| Chest | Bakarma Breastplate | 51% | Unique | 54 | 397 | 216 | 31 |
| Legs | Bakarma Greaves | 21% | Unique | 54 | 331 | 162 | 37 |
| Gloves | Anguish Gloves | 21% | Legend | 40 | 195 | 80 | 38 |
| Boots | Anguish Boots | 20% | Legend | 40 | 195 | 80 | 36 |
| Cape | Pilgrim Cloak | 20% | Legend | 40 | 195 | 80 | 32 |
Official-sample 2026-10-18 Sample: n=1,600 characters (top 200 per class), sampled 2026-10-18.
The chest is led by Bakarma Breastplate, Vakron Breastplate and Anguish Breastplate. Helmets: Pilgrim Helm and Liberator Helm. Boots: Anguish Boots and Bakarma Boots. Anguish Gloves and Bakarma Greaves lead gloves and legs.
Armor families: the name stems that lead
Official-sample 2026-10-18
Armor pieces share a name stem across slots, so we group them by dropping the last word. Bakarma Breastplate and Bakarma Greaves belong to one stem. This is a naming match only: we do not claim the pieces form a bonus set, because no set bonus data is published in the sources we use.
| Family | Items | Slots covered | Share of armor wearings | Usual grade | Median piece item level |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bakarma | 7 | 7 of 7 | 24% | Unique | 54 |
| Pilgrim | 7 | 7 of 7 | 17% | Legend | 39 |
| Liberator | 7 | 7 of 7 | 15% | Legend | 39 |
| Anguish | 7 | 7 of 7 | 11% | Legend | 40 |
| Vakron | 5 | 5 of 7 | 10% | Unique | 70 |
| Division | 7 | 7 of 7 | 5% | Legend | 40 |
Official-sample 2026-10-18
The six leading families together cover 82% of all armor wearings, out of 53 families seen. A handful of families dominate.
Do classes match their pieces?
Official-sample 2026-10-18
We cannot see individual characters, so we measure matching at class level. For each class we find the leading family in every armor slot, then count how many of the 7 slots share the class's most common leading family. A high count means the class's most worn pieces come from one stem. A low count means the class mixes.
| Class | Most common leading family | Slots it leads | Different leaders | Average share of leader |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gladiator | Bakarma | 4 of 7 | 3 | 27% |
| Templar | Pilgrim | 5 of 7 | 3 | 30% |
| Assassin | Bakarma | 3 of 7 | 3 | 29% |
| Ranger | Bakarma | 3 of 7 | 3 | 31% |
| Chanter | Liberator | 3 of 7 | 3 | 26% |
| Cleric | Bakarma | 3 of 7 | 3 | 28% |
| Sorcerer | Pilgrim | 2 of 7 | 4 | 29% |
| Spiritmaster | Pilgrim | 3 of 7 | 3 | 26% |
Official-sample 2026-10-18 A leader is the family with the most wearings in a slot for that class.
Templar is the most aligned class (5 of 7 slots led by Pilgrim), and Sorcerer the least (2 of 7, led by Pilgrim). The classes use 3 different leading families between them. For class pages see Templar and Sorcerer.
Full-set matches are the stricter test. Across the eight classes, 8 identical full loadouts (all gear slots) appear at least three times, together covering 2.6% of the sample. The most repeated one appears 9 times, and its armor comes from Liberator. A match of armor names alone is far more common than a match of all slots.
Grade and enchant by armor slot
Official-sample 2026-10-18
Grade and enchant describe how finished a slot is. Unique and Legend are the armory's two main armor grades; the remainder is Common or Rare. We do not rank Legend above Unique, because their piece item levels differ.
| Slot | Unique | Legend | Other | Median enchant | p90 enchant |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Helmet | 38% | 62% | 0% | 4 | 10 |
| Shoulders | 35% | 65% | 0% | 3.5 | 10 |
| Chest | 69% | 31% | 0% | 5 | 10 |
| Legs | 42% | 58% | 0% | 5 | 10 |
| Gloves | 42% | 58% | 0% | 3 | 10 |
| Boots | 37% | 63% | 0% | 3 | 10 |
| Cape | 42% | 58% | 0% | 3.5 | 10 |
Official-sample 2026-10-18 Medians are the middle of the eight class medians.
Chest has the highest Unique share (69%) and shoulders has the lowest (35%). The highest piece item level seen in any armor slot is 86.
Item level and stone slots by family
Official-sample 2026-10-18
Item level gives a second view of the name stems. Among the six leading families, Vakron has the highest median piece item level (70) and Pilgrim and Liberator share the lowest (39). Item level alone does not decide how common a family is, so availability matters as much as power.
The stone slot count follows the item level in the item data: Legend armor has 3 stone slots, Unique armor has 4 stone slots and Rare armor has 2 stone slots. Stone slots are where you add stats later, so a piece with more of them has more room to grow. Open any piece above in the item database to see its slot count, its base Defense and HP, and the class split. The gear guide explains what the stones do.
How to pick armor (editorial)
Editorial 2026-10-19
- Compare piece item level first. Bakarma Breastplate is worn most, but item level and stone slots tell you more than a name.
- Do not force a matching set. Classes usually mix families across slots. Fill each slot with the best piece you can get.
- Look at where Unique pieces are common. Chest has the highest Unique share in the sample, so that slot is the most finished. Pilgrim Pauldrons and Pilgrim Cloak are common choices for shoulders and cape.
- Use the item page, not the name. It lists Defense, HP, stone slots and the class split.
Where armor drops from is covered in the gear progression route, and how to raise it in the enchanting guide. For the first level 45 setup, read first gear setup. For weapons, read weapon choices by class.

- Set bonuses for matching armor pieces. No source we use publishes any, so we show name matches only.
- Per-character armor combinations, because the armory data we keep is aggregate only.
